Johann Friedrich Hustedt, son of Johann and Rebecca Driers, Hustedt, was born in the village of Hustedt, near Markfelt, in Hanover, Germany, on Sept. 15, 1873. On Oct. 6 of that year he was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Pastor Dueir. After attending the primary schools of his village, he was confirmed that Markfelt at the aged 14 by the same pastor,on April 3rd, 1887. Soon after his confirmation, as a lad of 14, he with several other young man immigrated to the United States, coming directly to Alta, where his brother, Henry who had preceded him several years sooner, was employed. His parents and sister followed him to Americasome years later. After working at various places in Hanover communityfor a number of years, he was married to Miss Marie Menke on February15, 1900, with whom he lived together for more than 42 years. God blessthis union with three children, the daughters Stella, Esther and Ina.After his married he lived for three years on a farm north of Galva. For the remainder of his life, he lived on the present homestead two miles west into north of Hanover. The deceased enjoyed rugged health untilhe was 60 years of age, when an operation became necessary. Although successful to some degree, this operation did not restored into his former state of health and well-being. About three years ago he was attackedby a complication of diseases to which he finally succumbed, last Sunday evening at 8:30 o'clock he reached the age of 68 years, nine monthsand six days. He leaves his widow, his daughters Mrs. Richard Heimbruch, Mrs. Leslie Millard, and Mrs. Norman Schroeder, three grandchildren,Eugene and Dickie Heimbruch and Doris Marie Millard; also his brother Henry Hustedt, and his sisters, Mrs. Carl Radke, and Mrs. William Radkeand Mrs. John D. Otto. Mr. Hustedt was a Lutheran all his life and a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover since his arrival from Germany. He attended church faithfully as long as his healthpermitted. He received holy communion during his last illness and assured his pastor that he was ready and prepared to die. May God keep his remains undisturbed until judgment day dawns and then grant him a joyfulreunion with his love ones in heaven. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and at 2:00 from St. John's Lutheran Church in Hanover with pastor 0, Bahr and Rev. Walter Schroeder of Charter Oak officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery. Bearers wereHenry Schuelke, William Winterhof, Frank Huseman, Fred Hoffmeier, Edward Lehnhardt and Henry Nelson. Storm Lake Pilot Tribune Jun. 25, 1942.
