Obituary: Published in The Carnegie Herald, Carnegie, Caddo Co., OK Wednesday, June 22, 1966 Services For Mrs.Della Martin Funeral services for Mrs. V.E.(Virgil Edwin) Martin, widow of a late pioneer dentist, were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pitcher Funeral Home. Rev.Gene Mathis, pastor of the New Harmony Baptist church, officiated. Interment was at Carnegie cemetery. Mrs. Martin, who the past few months had made her home at a Carnegie Rest Home, died Monday afternoon at the Carnegie Hospital after a brief critical illness. She had entered the hospital Sunday morning. Born on February 11, 1890, in Georgia, she moved with her parents to Waverly,Iowa, at an early age and was 11 years of age when the family moved to Carnegie. She was married to Dr. V.E. Martin in 1916 and the couple made their home here until he retired in 1962 and moved to Tyler, Texas. Her husband died a year later. Mrs. Martin returned to Carnegie in 1964 to make her home. She had lived in the rest home the past few months. Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Muriel Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa, and three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elmer Dyer, Mrs. Henry Dyer, and Mrs. George Dyer.
