John Christian Heinrich Hustedt the son of Johann and Rebecca was bornOctober 21, 1869 Hustedt, Martfeld, Providence of Hanover in the kingdom of Prussia, Germany. He was baptized on November 7, 1869 and was later confirmed in the faith at the same place on April 6, 1884. On April 26, 1884 for he received his passport for America and soon after departed and came to the United States as a 14-year-old lad. Heinrich arrivedin Baltimore, Maryland in May 29, 1884 on the ship the Braunschweig. Hebecame a citizen of this country on October 7, 1891. His citizenship papers were granted by the District Court at Cherokee, Iowa with the honorable George W. Wakefield, presiding judge. John better know as HenryHustedt passed away January 8, 1943 at Hanover, Buena Vista County, Iowa of obstruction of the bowel due to adhesions. Henry married Rebekka Elise Margrethe Grieme on February 2, 1895 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church at Hanover, Buena Vista County, Iowa. Rebekka Elise Margrethe Grieme the daughter of John and Rebeka Meyer Grieme was born on August 28, 1873 at Atl Holtum, Hanover, Germany. She was baptized on September 14, 1873. At the age of eight years in 1882, she together with herparents came to America and settled on a farm a little over a mile eastof Hanover in Maple Valley Twp., Buena Vista County, Iowa. She was confirmed on April 11, 1887 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Hanover, Iowa. Rebekka passed away January 13, 1938 in Hanover, Buena Vista County, Iowa of heart failure. They are buried at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery, Hanover, Buena Vista County, Iowa. They are the parents of three children:Heinrich Carsten Hustedt, Roy Diedrich Christian Hustedt and Earl Wilhelm Hustedt.
John Christian Henry Hustedt, son of John Henry Hustedt and Rebecca Margarete Driers Hustedt was born October 20, 1869 at Hustedt, County of Mar felt, Providence of Hanover in the kingdom of Prussia, Germany. On Nov. 7th of the same year he became a member of the Evangelical LutheranChurch by receiving the Sacrament of holy baptism. He was confirmed inthe faith at the same place on April 6, 1884. On April 26, 1880 for hereceived his passport for America and soon after departed and came tothe United States as a 14-year-old lad. He became a citizen of this country on October 7th, 1891. His citizenship papers were granted by the District Court at Cherokee, Iowa with the honorable George W. Wakefield,presiding judge. He was married to Miss Rebecca Grieme on Feb. 20th, 1895 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church at Hanover. Pastor H. Wehking performed the ceremony. To this union were born three sons, Roy, Earl and Henry. Earl is somewhere in England, serving in the Armed Forcesof our country. Mrs. Rebecca Hustedt preceded her husband and death onJanuary 13th, 1938. Mr. Hustedt always enjoyed good health. He was never seriously ill until some weeks ago when he suffered an attack of pneumonia. He recovered quickly from this attack only to become ill again.This time a major operation had to be performed to which he succumbed.He passed away Friday afternoon, Jan. 8, 1943 at the age of 73 years,two months and 17 days. He is survived by his three sons, Roy, Earl andHenry and his sisters, Mrs. John D. Otto, Mrs. Carl Radke and Mrs. William Radke. Mr. Hustedt was a member of St. John Lutheran Church from the time he arrived in this country. He was prepared and ready to departthis life when he it came. We mourn him not as one who is lost to us,but as one we shall meet again in the kingdom of the glory. May God, through faith in his son, Jesus Christ, grant us all a blessed end in Jesus when our time is at hand. The funeral service was conducted from thehome at 1:30 and at St. John's church at 2 PM Monday January 11th. Theservices were in charge of his pastor, O. Bahr, who preached in the German language and was assisted by pastor Arthur Otto of Galva, who preached in the English language. Interment was in the family lots on St. Johns Cemetery. Bearers were nephews, Milton Hustedt, Walter Miller, Arthur Radke, Harry Otto, Henry Grieme, Carl Grieme. This information wasprovided by the Storm Lake Register Jan. 12,1943.
